I installed the Thundermax on my 2010 Ultra. Speedo was off by a couple of miles an hour, so I re-calibrated that so the that now the Speedo is dead on. But, I lost the 6th gear idiot light.
Zippers doesn't know which way to calibrate the final drive number from 87 to fix the light issue. They did say that it what would need to be changed...by a couple of numbers.
Anyone else had this experience? I had to add to the speedo calibration to make it accurate. The speedo was reading 2 mph slower than the bike was
actually going. So I changed the speedo calibration from the 44750 to 46293.
I am willing to experiment, but would be happy to learn from someone else's experience. ... :-)
wouldnt know what to tell ya i have installed 3 my bike the wifes bike and a friends bike. never had the problems u r having and my bike is 2011 my wifes 2006 and my friends 2009.if i was u i would go back and start all over maybe u missed a step.

I think the problem began with changing the speedo callibration. Did you do that? IF so, did you have to change the final gear setting from the 87?
The light just quite working because I changed the speedo. If I had left that alone, I'm sure things would be fine. Just wanted the speedo to be accurate...

Thanks for the response!
i did have to recalibrate the speedo i used the 2010 calibration. no i didnt have to change the final gear either go back and start all over. and use the 2010 speedo calibration and gont mess with the final gear setting.
Try your cruise control and see if that works.!!! After trying to install an after market speedo calibrator my 6th gear indicator light went out too. The cruise didn't work either. The only way I was able to get them calibrated was to go to a TTS tuner that let the calibration take place through the ECM. Now I'm good to go.

Thanks. Actually, everything, including the cruise, works great. I couldn't be happier with this tuner. The speedo calibration is figured for you right in the software. You plug in the indicated mph and then the actual (via gps) mph and the software gives you the correct numbers to calibrate the speedo. I did so and it spot on now. Very easy! Much easier than the TTS tuner I have.
The only cost to me was losing the silly 6th gear light. Which is really an insignificant issue but...it is just a little thing that I thought to mess with.
Trek, I had some problems with my T max and the Speedo and RPM gauge when I put it in. I worked with both Randy and George at Zippers, both know their stuff if you have not talked to one of them, might want to ask for them personally.
Mine did the same thing. I Did a 46 to 49 tooth conversion on the ring gear so mine was all messed up. Zippers says the thing to do is change the final gear ratio down 2 numbers at a time. I have tried a few with mine and still nothing. The speed cal is just that for the speed. The unit compares that with the final drive ratio and the speed sensor to give you your idiot light. let us know how it goes. I need to call them soon anywayabout a ghost trouble code i keep getting. It shows up in the tmax tuning software but doesn't show up on the bike when i pull the codes. Kind of weird.
