octane 91 per manual?
DO NOT add any form of alcohol to any fuel..
not sure about EPA and boats.. i would do much research first.. the catalysts and O2's may not like..
if you want high octane look at jet A or some sunoco race gas..
the real deal is if its not pinging your are fine.. in street/race motors in the past.. i would start out w/ super high octane then back down to the point of preignition/detonation.. thats where the car would make the most power all variables (timing/temp etc) taken out..
i have a diatribe on an old *** revived thread: simply put.. power out put is related to air in, fuel in, and the ability to control combustion via octane/quench/timing/fuel volume whatever. it all works together
that said.. being aircooled is a whole different amimal why do you think VW/porche killed the aircooled platform.. wait is anyone air cooled any longer? aircooled is NOT forgiving.. get the EPA involved/catalysts/computer control and your right on the edge of what is economically viable regarding longevity of said motor and said design..
but hey.. thats why i like the dinosaur.. wish it was carb'd tho..
my 2 cents
spot on
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
All on 87 octane and never any pinging.
If a bike pings on 93 octane it needs a carbon cleaning or is being lugged.
HD recommends 91. But our nanny government requires that all engines be able to run on 87.
It's your bike put in it what you want.
