I do notice better mileage with 100% gas. That being said, I don't notice a difference between 87 & 91 whole gas. No pinging ever.

91 octane without ethanol is better.

Thanks all.

Use what works for you. In my limited experience fuel injected motors seem to compensate for low octane better than carbed bikes. I use highest I can get, partly for better mileage and range. That said many times I had to use 87 or even 85, as nothing better was available. In remote areas one has to take what one can get. Noticed that mileage suffered, butt dyno indicated that performance was off a little too. But it ran!

looks like I will have to get the octane 93 gas. We do not have octane 91 here...I thought we did. So I guess I will jump up to 93 and see how it goes. Thanks for the chime in.

FYI for those that ride in and through the state of Arizona; all the gasoline in the Phoenix area comes out of the same terminal and tanks, a central distribution terminal, no matter the name brand. 91 is about the most you can find in this area as there is no refinery in the state of Arizona. The majority of the gasoline is piped into the state from El Paso.

Crap. Pure crap...

Jet A is a form of kerosene, not gasoline.. Jets burn low grade (but very
highly processed) fuel because it doesn't make any difference to them
as long as it burns. If anyone ever put Jet A into any form of internal
combustion engine, it would friggin' DIE..

Like Blueridge, above, I run 91 whenever I can but I've also used 87
in Death Valley or other remote areas cuz that's all that was available.

I've only gotten very minor, barely detectable pinging once on one tank
of gas in very hot temps near Sedona, AZ. Just dropping down a gear
and letting the engine run a bit freer stopped it. And that was on 91 octane.

Right because the fuel is all the same. higher octane is for high performance engines and it's purpose is to reduce engine knock. 100 octane is a needless expense on a harley engine, stage 1,2 3, or 4

@ o leary17 it takes a couple of tanks of the same mixture for the ecm to make the adjustments. It isn't something you will feel right away.

I run 93 of anything that's considered top tier gasoline.

Hell it would have a hard time getting past the injectors!
