Default Another air horn thread

So on my way to work this this morning, I almost got into a head on collision with a prius who was literally driving down the middle of the road. I've had many close calls already this year and that was the final straw. It's now time for an air horn.

I've searched and read several posts already regarding this. I like the look of the trumpet style horns (black). I'm about to pull the trigger on either the Rivco's or the Howards (dynamic duo). Leaning more towards the Howards though after listening to some sound bytes. However, I've read several posts about their brackets failing. These posts were years old, so I'm wondering if they still have this issue? And if they will fit on an 09 street bob. I'm not afraid of a little challenge on the install.

I'm also open to other suggestions on other brands.

And one other question. Are these legal in California? Probably not I'm guessing. Nothing is legal in CA. Not that it will stop me from installing one, just stop me from honking at a police car.

Thanks in advance!

Indy shop here had a Mini-Beast horn rigged up on the counter. Touched the hot wire to a battery under the counter and that **** is LOUD!

No knowledge of the one you mentioned but the mini beast is very loud.

It will be on my bike soon.

Being a truck driver, IMO those types won't see you no matter what you drive or how loud the horn is - that goes double for Prius drivers along with the BMecdes types that think their S*&% don't stink.

Instead, spend the same money on improving your riding skills.

Thanks lo-rider. Anything else?

The stock horn is pathetic. And needs to go.

I just installed the mini beast 2 on my bike. It's loud as anything, proof in the pudding will be when I have to use it to wake up some dummy on the freeway as they start to merge into me.

Trust me, forget about air horn, it's a joke. Yes, loud horns don't save my life but I can always stop ppl from entering my lane, it happened many times.
To get a decent loud sound, you do need a high note and a low note horn. Leave the cowbell horn and add one behind the motor. PM me if you have any questions
Here is a link http://www.amazon.com/HELLA-00742480.../dp/B000COBK8A you do need a relay for the second horn.

Paying attention is what has kept me alive. I just want give some of these clowns a good toot when they aren't paying attention....

I've read a lot of good things about the mini beasts and the stebel horns, and I'm sure they are plenty loud and get the job done. But I kinda like the look of the trumpet style. Howards, & Rivco seem to be the best options? Metalart was another one, but I don't think they sound as good. Based on youtube vids & crappy laptop speakers...
