Default FXR 1260 Engine

Hey everyone, I'm new here so please forgive the ignorant questions?

I have the opportunity to trade for a 1992 FXR 1260cc bike. However, in my searches I can find almost nothing on the 1260 cc engine. This worries me because from what I can tell the FXR was only made with a 1340cc engine in 1992, but maybe I'm just not finding it in my searches.

If anyone is familiar with this engine and where I can read up on it, I would appreciate the information. Thank you.

There isn't a 1260 engine in any harley. The closest thing would be a 1250 kit in a sportster but an fxr is a big twin 1340.

I'm not familiar with a 1260 Dyna, but that doesn't mean much. Was is the seller who called it a 1260? I would check the VIN and see exactly what this is.

Yes, the 1260 is a quotation from the seller. I would've figured the seller would know what he has but maybe not. He is supposed to send me some pics shortly after he gets off work. I will post them when I get them for you guys.

Do you guys think the 92 fxr was a good bike?

Some aftermarket companies can make a bore up to. 1260 for a sportster. But if the guy had a bored over sporty I would assume he would know a little about the bike but that is not always the case with owners. As far as an fxr they only came with 1340 cc Evo motors. A sportster also has an Evo motor but the trans and motor are one "unit". An Evo fxr motor is seperate from the transmission

Looks like the seller had it wrong. Anyway, it is the 1340. Here is the pic:

The FXR is arguably Harley's best bike. Mine was an '89 FXRS, a wonderful bike.
