I've got an 05 FXD that I'm doing a midglide conversion kit on this winter along with getting rid of most, if not all chrome, adding apes, white walls, etc. and I'm considering going with longer fork tubes like on the police dynas since I'll have the front end apart anyway. I've already slammed the rear end of the bike an inch. Does anybody have any input on what this might do to the handling.
I do not plan on changing the rake as it's the look of the short rake that inspired me to buy a SuperGlide to begin with.
Couple of HD mechanics said it wouldn't do anything I would notice while riding and another mechanic told me he wouldn't advise it because it won't handle worth a crap after that.
Any thoughts, advice?
Thanks in advance!
With 11' shocks in the rear, my jiffy (kick) stand just barely works, so you'll have to figure out what you're gonna do about that....
The engine will really be tilted back if you do this....which means you'll have to figure out how to gauge you oil level, etc. also when you look at the bike the bottom of the frame will not be level to the ground anymore, it'll look like the ol' chops from the 60's.
handling? what's that? it won't handle worth a damn after you do this!
