New rider, installing bracket for throwovers, could use tips!
Hello,
Not only new to the HD family, but to riding all together. I bought some after market brackets and throw overs online and would appreciate anyone's help on how to remove the rear turn signals to mount the bracket. I checked my owners manual and didn't see anything in there to help me out. Looking at the bracket, I'm guessing I'm going to have to buy a couple longer bolts as they look at add about 3/4". My bike is a 2012 Dyna Super Glide. Thanks ahead for any tips!
Okay, as a novice mechanic I made it though the installation of the brackets. It wasn't too difficult, just very space restrictive. The throwovers are 13" wide which are about an inch too long for a flush fit behind the shocks. I've read that having them hang over the shocks are okay but have to ask if anyone has a recommendation for some bags that will fit flush between shock and rear turn signals (not relocated).
Glad you got it figured out. Be glad you didn't have to buy the turn signal "relocation" kit that "requires" you to cut the turn signal wires. Getting that wiring back into the channels inside the rear fender was a real bear.

I know that Leatherworks makes a slant bag that fits there, it would be helpful if you post a pic of your brackets. I have a couple of discontinued bags that will also work, you can PM me if interested. Also, make sure you put some paint protection film on your fender or the throw overs will mess up the paint.

They are quick detach leaving the bike look clean (no support brackets) when the bags are off because the brackets are built into the bags. This style you don't have to relocate your signals for.
