Default Easy Brackets and turn signals

Looking at Easy Brackets for my 2008 Street Bob. Says "MAY"have to move rear turn signals. Any experience with this? Or does it depend on the bags?

My hubby normally makes throwover leather bags but said he can make me a set for easy (ghost) brackets. So if it's dependent on the bags, not the hardware itself, he can make the bags to fit without having to move the signals.

I think you're looking at the wrong model. Here is what their web site says for the model that fits your bike (and mine):

"Fits 2006 and later Dynas with or without Hard Mount Backrest except FXDWGI. Turn signals must be relocated off the fender all models. Turn signal relocation kits available from Great Bike Gear."

On our bikes, the Easy Bracket actually attaches to the mounting point for the turn signal. That's why it has to be moved. The bracket essentially replaces the turn signal.

FWIW, I had Easy Brackets with hard bags on my sporty, but used Barebacks from Cyclevisions on my FXDX.

The Easy Brackets have a slot of "slop" compared to the Barebacks-you could pull the bottom of the bags out 1-1 1/2" with the Easys. People I rode with said my bags were jumping all over the place. Rock solid with the Barebacks-no movement at all. You'll have to use a support or hard backing with either system.

The Easy Brackets come in regular or slim-line (I think that's what they call it). The slim-lines are meant to mount the bags behind the shocks and tighter to the bike. You have to be very careful to leave enough clearance behind the shock so it doesn't rub at any point during its travel. The regular moves the bags outboard of the shocks-much wider load.

For your bike you will have to re-locate the signals with either the Easy Brackets or Barebacks. Check to see if the Softail Deluxe deluxe standard turn signals will fit the contour of your rear fender. If so, I think they look a lot better than MoCo's relocation set.

Good luck.

Thanks Gary7!

Do you (or anyone else out there) think the relocator kit is as easy to install as their video would make it seem? We just watched it and it looks relatively simple - but what's the reality?

Hubby is thinking if we can do this, it will help him in his saddlebag making to be able to say he can adapt his throwover styles to work on Easy Brackets, so doing a set for MY bike would be good practice. Just wondering how hard it all will be to actually install. Hubby is not totally inept at basic mechanics, but doesn't do a LOT of work on our bikes either.

Well, that's good to hear. Question though - why on and off 4 times??

I have posted before on the troubles I had with the HD relocation kit. Wish I had used the kit offered on the Easy Bracket site.

had them off when i put on the relocation laydown plate and back on. Then this weekend i took that plate off and put on the sissy bar relocation kit putting the signals back to the OEM location and put on a side plate down by my shock.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Easy Brackets and also the Relocator kit that Great Bike Gear had. They had a 1 cent shipping deal, so I'm paying 2 cents for the two items. (Although I think somehow they jacked the price up to cover the shipping, ha ha). Oh well. It is what it is. So my hubby is going to make me some bags. I've bought or ordered everything I need now for my new bike except a luggage rack. I just wish I could ride. New England weather STINKS.
