It's still in the bag. I haven't hooked it up yet. Shouldn't matter though. Just about all cigarette power plugs for devices have fuses in them. Most are set up for the power the device needs. It would not be hard to add an inline fuse though if needed.

I have ruined 3 of the cheap ebay outlets due to weather and corrosion. I spent the extra money this time and got the Harley one. It can be mounted anywhere, but in my case I put it in the bags. Its got a rubber cap, runs off either a battery tender style plug or can be hard wired, and it can get wet without being ruined. I really like the thing for my GPS and the wifes IPOD. I have run a 1 into 2 splitter for both and it worked like a dream.

This is what I came up with as of now; it seems to work. I couldnt find the reusable zip ties on short notice so, Im just going to leave it on for the trip like this and the power inverter can be removed when I unfasten the bag straps. I took it apart and looped another zip tie through it in the event it comes loose. It gets airflow this way as it requires.
