Ive got a TV3 and have never had a problem like that. periodically check your battery cables to make sure they are tight . they do occasionally loosen up from the bikes vibration .
Checked the connections. The negative cable looks like it is melting the bolt and bolt housing a bit. I cleaned off the slag with a wire brush. It still started fine. Also put sea foam in the tank and sloshed it around. Haven't ride yet. Was going to let the seafoam "marinate" in the tank a bit. Any thoughts?
No, no washing or water. So do I unplugg the fuel management and leave it, adjust it or what? Again, I'm new and dumb. Anything helps guys. Thanks.
As suggested, clean and tighten battery cables on both ends first, When it stalls, imediatley loosen fuel cap and listen for suction, as suggested. You can run it with Tuner bypassed and try it if problem goes away you know what it is.
K, I don't know what a tuner is. Also I don't know it was suggested to open my gas tank the check for a whoosh. Also can anyone tell me where the tank vent is ? Thanks alot guys
The "tuner" is the fuel manager under the seat, Power Commander, etc. Your gas cap I believe is vented, when they suggest loosening the cap, if you hear a woosh of air, then the vent is possibly not venting properly. Hope this helps.
...Just bought a 2009 Street Bob... about 45 and the bike started sputtering and backfiring. After the backfire there would be a loss of power, then it would lurch foreword. Did that about 4 times then flat out shut off. Pulled off restarted the bike. Same scenario 2 more times... I replaced plugs, wires, cleaned and recharged the air filter...
There's no "charging" a stock air filter.
You need to get the owners, service and parts manuals before you go cocking-up your bike. Read through the entire owners manual, first, and then the troubleshooting section of the service manual. Your bike's been modified, so that complicates the troubleshooting.
