A customer of mine had a similar issue with his fatbob 2009 (I think) after alot a fiddling around by various mechanics it turned out to be the fuel pump in the tank starving the bike by not letting enough gas through, he swapped it with a known good one and problem solved, but I dont think his would die completely, just a lot of missing and spluttering.
Before you start throwing parts at it I would start looking for electrical faults from the handle bars back to the battery, Look for loose or bad connections squashed/crushed wires under the tank, seat and bar controls also check the kill switch on the bars and key switch wiring. It could be something really simple. My old 79 Triumph bonnie started dying when I had the headlight on and the rpm dropped it would just stall, it turned out to be 90c fuse.
I'm not doing anything to the bike but put some seafom in it and cleaned and recharged the air filter, which I knew how to do before hand. I have a manual on order. I'm trying to learn all I can. Hence the reason I'm sponging off you guys. Thanks again
Ok, so I got the bike running. Changed plugs, wires, cleaned and charged air filter, ran seafoam through it twice, cleaned connections for the battery and tuner. Did all that and it still ran like ****. After the second dose of seafoam it runs smooth. Thanks for all the tips and advice guys. Much appreciated.
