Another Saddlebag Question
I am new to the forum and I am sorry if this has already been addressed but I have done some searches and cannot find the answer.
I have a 2010 Dyna Wide Glide that I have decided to install saddlebags on for longer rides. I am not a fan of saddlebags but at this point it is more of a question of function than form.
I really like the side mounted license plate but I guess that has got to go. The best looking license plate and turn signal relocation kit I have seen is the one from Great Bike Gear. It does a pretty good job of keeping the sleek clean look of the rear of the bike while keeping the license plate tucked up nice and tight under the fender.
I am also looking at the Easy Brackets from the same company. Does anyone else have these and how do you like them?
Do they make the saddlebags look like they are a mile away from the fender?
Does the saddlebag seem to droop outward on say a fast corner or do the Easy Brackets do a pretty good job of keeping the saddlebag tight/rigid against the bike?
I am also looking at the Synthetic leather saddlebags from Harley Davidson. Does anyone have any input on these? Do they keep their form/shape pretty good for a softside bag or do they have some form of filler panel? These are probably the sleekest less frills saddlebags I have been able to find. I am trying to find some without any fringe, buckles or anything other than a smooth sleek saddlebag. Any other brands/models that may fit that description?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Mike.

Easy brackets stick out far with detachable back rest hardware. Not so bad if u don't run a sissy bar or have a rigid one. But its great because they don't leave much on the bike and work well for making bags more rigid.
That tag bracket you mentioned is your best bet. I've had that question a million times on mine and nothing works with a full length fender. I guess I'm gonna mount mine on the fender.
Good luck.

I run a detachable backrest for my wife when she rides. I was concerrned that the easy Brackets made the bags stickout further and more vulnerable to theft.
I like the sleek look with out the bags, but after having bags, I never take them off except to clean the rear of the bike.
I mounted mine with threaded rod so they are very easy to remove when I want to.

I also use allthread with the quick detatch hardware. Seems to be the most low profile solution. As for Harley's synthetic bags, the only problem I've had with them is the flaps blow open after awhile traveling above ~50mph as the velcro doesnt hold. Some added snaps should fix this issue. I now use Harley's distressed bags.

Another quick question.
I was just looking on Harley's website at saddlebags and noticed they offer some "detachable" ones with their own style of docking hardware.
Which seems to be better as far as keeping the bags close to the bike, tight to the bike and clean looking when the bags are off of the bike, Harley's design of detachable hardware or the Easy Brackets?
Thanks.

If you don't want to move your signals you could go with these.

You do have to use our license plate bracket that moves the plate straight back about 2 inches. The bags are quick detach and leave little on the bike, and they hug close. You can pm me if you want more info, as these aren't on our website yet.

Thanks to Garry at LeatherPros, after talking to him on the telephone I ordered a set of their new 29 series plain bags (like the ones pictures above) so I don't have to move my taillights and my license plate can stay mounted on the left side.
I will post up some pictures and overall comments about them when I receive them. I will also attach some installation photos of the bracket system if anyone is interested.

Leather pros are nice lookin bags, kinda wish I would have researched more before I went with my luggage rack set-up. All because I digg that laid back plate and didnt want to relocate turn signals. Also didnt like the factory offerings, they didnt offer much room and were waaayyy expensive but gotta have storage if u want to go anywhere.
