Default Apes or Windshield

Coming to a crossroads here.....I really like the looks of apes and think it would be a more comfortable ride. However, I am also wanting a windshield, the few times that I have ridden on the highway the wind beats the hell out of me. Most of my trips on short, to and from work, etc. My bike is my primary means of transportation. But those times that I do get on the highway or take longer trips I think a windshield would make the ride a lot more comfortable. Looking for suggestions on what you all think. I know the arguement of "if you dont want wind, ride in a cage", but I am looking for something more constructive than that. Thanks all.

I have a quick release HD windsheild that i never use. My gripe with it is the buffetting that occurs when its on no matter what possition / height i set it at. I enjoy riding with it off for that reason alone, just my 2 cents.

I rode 4k miles over 10 days with this setup (12 inch chubby wild ones and a 17" memphis slim detachable), except I used a sundowner seat instead of the barebones. Windscreen and apes worked great together. I have switched this shield for a tinted one of the same model that I cut 3 1/2 inches off of. It works just as well.

I never really considered getting smaller apes, I always envisioned 16" or 17" apes and was thinking that I had to have either or, I guess I could start thinking about smaller apes so I could have both.

Windvest shield all the way. Best mod to my bike to date. takes the pressure off your chest and direct the wind over your helmet with no buffeting

I've got 16" apes, and I would not even consider putting a windshield on it. It is really not that bad on the highway without.
