So I am really lucky and I now have a deuce wheel for free. How should I go about cleaning or polishing this thing? It's not the chrome style, but the regular aluminum. The tire on it only has a few hundred miles, may use it.
I used 'Flitz' metal polish on my wheel. It works great. When you first use it, the cloth will come up black. The more you polish, the less black you will get. This is the oxidation and dirt coming off the wheel.
I'm sure there will be a dozen other recommendations shortly, but that's what worked for me. This the best picture of the wheel that I have, before I chromed it.
Make sure that you have the tire rotation correct when you assemble the wheel. Look for the arrow on the sidewall of the tire. Also, there's a thin plate that goes between the brake rotor and the wheel hub. Don't forget that.
You can just see through the big holes in the rotor in this picture. I'm not sure exactly what it does other than block the big holes in the wheel hub to keep out water and debris.

Yeah I talked to my dealer and I have to get different bearings and spacers. It will cost about 70 bucks. I got the wheel in the mail yesterday, the tire on it has maybe 500 miles of use, so I have a new back tire already mounted pretty much! The wheel didn't come with the brake rotor, only the pulley.
When you change over yor brake rotor, be sure to use new (application specific) hardware.
They are pritty much one-time use. Having a special thread locking feature from the manufacturer.
And, Use a torque wrench.
Not tryin to insult your intelligence or competence, or anything like that. Just thinking out loud I guess. After reading some of the post here on the forums about peoples wheel pulleys and such... hardware backing out and all, it makes one wonder. Ya Know?
