there is a product they recommend to spray it with that helps harden the material up a bit. It also is a silver color so it helps improve the looks a bit. You should be able to get it wherever you get the wrap from.

I didn't use any coating on mine, not saying that I won't, but I haven't yet. I don't want to change the color of the wrap at all, so I'm trying to find something totally clear. A lot of the guys that use black wrap use the black spray, because some of the black wraps are more of a grey, and the spray is necessary to make the wrap black.

thanks guys, so are we saying that any hi temp black spray would do the job, i used to spray the headers of my hayabusa with just black bbq paint, is this ok to put over the wrap material? or an equivalent hi temp spray? my wrap that i am doing at the weekend is graphite grey and i really wanted dark black.

Also it is better to single or double wrap headers and pipes?

Don't use the high heat black. Get the stuff made for the cloth. It contains something that'll help preserve it.

If you do go with the hi temp paint don't get the BBQ. BBQ paint is only rated for about 600 degrees and since manifold temperatures "can" reach over 1000 (in the bends) it tends to burn off the paint. What you need is header paint your not going to find it at Walmart but its not that hard to find alot of parts stores are going to have it if you ask. It comes in a few different colors including my favorite BLACK. You'll have to pay a little extra per can but you'll save in the long run I promise. Oh and someone was saying earlier about the double wrap. I had enough trouble wrapping them with one layer I can't imagine trying a second lol. But you are right its still hot enough in spots to burn my pant legs.

I wrapped mine black and it did look gray until I sprayed them with a high temp silicone coating.
