Default Lean condition?

Just creeping up on 5000 miles on my 2007 FXD with SE slip ons (stock intake). I'm getting ready to do my service and pulled the plugs today to see if I needed to pick some up. I didn't expect to see them as white as they are but I've done a lot of searching on the site and some say it's normal while other say it is not. I called one of my local HD dealers and it's $200 to get it flashed to richen it up. I've also read about the XIEDs work well and would be 1/2 that cost. Opinions on the plugs, flash, XIED or if it looks like I'm good? I know that I need a new set of plugs anyway and will go for a long ride to get a read but wanted initial opinions on what I saw. Thanks.

They don't look bad. Slight lean maybe, but they all are from the factory. They look like my brothers plugs on his 2004, going on 60k miles no issues.

Thanks Good_Apollo. I don't mind spending $100 and getting a little less gas mileage if the bike benefits from it.

I put the adjustable XIED on my SG. I can't believe how much less heat I feel off the engine and a majority of the popping is one. Mine is stock except for V&H slip ons.

I just had a member contact me with XIEDs that he will be getting rid of because he's going to a programmer. I took a 500 round trip ride this weekend and the temps off the exhaust were tremendous. I'd have to stick my leg out every once in a while to cool it off. I guess a little insurance doesn't hurt at all.

I agree, they don't look bad. I'm running Xied's and mine are a little less lean (all black around the base ring, tanner on electrode).

Xeid's aren't the cure all, but they will cool down the motor and for that alone they are worth every penny

Try a real tuner.

I guess that is what I am looking for as well as cooler temps. As stated above, it's not a cure all but will help from what I've researched. I'm not planning on doing any intake or motor mods so maybe the XIED will do the trick for my needs. For what I just bought it for from a member it's worth a shot.

Your plugs are burning fine, don't waste your money on a fix for nothing.
