air filter

any reason I can"t use a screaming eagle backing plate with a k@n filter and the hardware from my intake system to install a round air filter on a 2008 fxd

Not sure about the new ones, but I did that on my 99 FXDL. I did have to use longer bolts through the filter to the backing plate, the stock ones are about 1/4" too short. IIRC, they are 1/4" bolts. Can't remember the length.

I used a k&n on a screaming eagle backing plate. Part # for the round k&n filter is #0800, it was a direct replacement for the SE filter.

The old hardware won't work, you need 3 new bolts and 2 new breather tubes. You also need a couple of o-rings for the backing plate. I just did this mod, I found the part numbers on a post here. I did reuse my 2 breather tube screws and the backing plate gasket.
