Saddlebags, what do you have?

I'm not going to use them that often so dropping $300+ on a very nice set of bags just didn't make sense to me. I went through the seller's feedback to look at reviews on the bags and I saw many that said they were the best they've ever owned or were nicer than they expected. We'll see when they show up at the end of this week.
Got mine installed last night. I made a couple plates to attached at the bottoms of the bags to the bike and they are rock solid wedges between the shocks and rear blinkers. It's probably just a tiny bit too snug but no big deal at all. I don't even need the strap to go over the fender but going to keep it on there anyway when I ride with them. 1 nut and bolt on each side and they are on or off. I'm pleased.

I am using the early style hard bags ... same as a few others on here have already posted ...
I think I am one of the only ones using the stock-type mounting brackets (adapted for use with Dyna) ...

I've often wondered whether the old brackets would work with the newer Touring saddlebags ... this might be the data point I've been looking for ...
I am undertaking a rehab project on my bags at present ... I just got some Police-type hinges and a couple of sets of Tour-Pak latches to try to make the saddlebag lids more sturdy and less susceptible to flopping around ... the poor fit of the lids allows them to fall out of alignment with the lower part of the bags and lets rainwater in ...
Up until about two or three weeks ago when I started accumulating parts for my rehab project I was contemplating ditching the bags in favor of a set of the newer style bags ... I suppose that could still happen sometime down the road (especially if my rehab effort is a bust) ...

I had touring hard bags on it from ebay. but they were abducted one nite along with my 2 up mustang seat!
I had a batwing fairing from ebay but replaced it w/ a smaller windshield when I put on the glide bags.
I used a bracket like yours from jp cycles. I put a section in the middle to space the holes out to fit my struts.
then I welded on the 1/4 turn brackets like a stocker has. both the hard and the glide bags fit as is made for it.
I didn’t use the quick releases on the glide bags, instead I went w/ 3/8” x 1-1/2” carriage bolts, nylocks, and a gob of locktite.
hopefully they’ll stay on longer.
I like the way the hard & glide bags line up @ almost the same angle as the shocks. although they do extend off the back a little.
if I was a bodyman I’d extend the fender down to be even with the bags. not many people realize it’s not stock!
safe riding,
bill
Good luck in your search.
