Thinking about getting the DWG 2" speaker kit for my 00' Super Glide. Only place to mount the speakers would be the bars, to the left and right of my speedo.. I was wondering if anyone here had these, and if so, how big are the speakers front to back? Im concerned that the depth of the speaker might hit my windshield brackets... Called DWG and girl who was helping me just said that they were 2" speakers, and when asked about depth she had no idea...So; whats the depth, and is this system good? Cant fit any thing bigger than 2",maybe 3" on those mini apes, and Im not going to put them at the top of the bars...Any help would be appreciated.
They are a little over 3" deep. I had mounted them onto my detachable windshield, used some metal like what you used to mount the back of your car radio and then attach to one of the bolts in the windshield. The end will rub/bounce against the screen so added one of those small no scuff floor pads to prevent that. Was a good set up as only used the speakers with the windscreen.
But the amp is not waterproof and it went out after a good down pour.
If it's any help to you here some pics of my handlebar mounted speakers.
The speakers are Shark (4") and the Amp is DWG mounted inside the headlight bucket. the DWG wireless remote is mounted to my left clutch bracket with Velcro and a zip tie.
I also used Shark handlebar mounts ($50 not cheap) to bring them closer to front of bike.
If this craps out on me I will probably just buy all in one amplified speakers. I probably ended up paying just as much trying to piece together my own.
