I have a dent in my '11 WG tank and was looking into a new/used tank. Dealer said a new, painted tank will run $1200 to $1600 CDN!! Found a used one for $900, but if an '11 Fatbob tank is the same, I can get a used one for about $450.
Does anyone know for sure if the tanks of an '11 WG and '11 Fatbob are the same? I'm not worried about the pinstripe on the WG tank just so long as they're the same part...
No, they are NOT the same, the WG has a sligtly smaller (4.7g as i recall) whereas the FB/SG have a 5g tank - they will fit on your frame but then you would need the FB dash.
Why not fix the dent? No need for a new tank unless you just want to change it. I'm sure the dealer says get a new tank. They probably don't have a body shop.

I've been trying to find someone to fix it. There's no PDR guys in my province, or the entire atlantic region, doing Harley tanks. I got a guy who says he can do it the old fashioned way... drill in, haul out dent, filler and repaint but I just don't think it'll turn out how I want it too. Hence been sniffing around for another one.
