Default FXD Handlebar Swap

I have an 05 FXD and I'd like to give it a different look with some higher bars. Can anyone tell me how much higher than stock I can go without getting into swapping cables, wiring, etc? any help is appreciated.

I have an '08 FXD. I was able to run narrow 10" Zbars without changing cables. And now I'm running 7.5" straight risers and a 2" rise wide drag bar with the same cables.

That looks nice. Did you ditch the speedo?

I put street bob bars on my FXD and had to change clutch and brake cables. No need to replace idle/ throttle cables.

I got the bracket for the speedo from eBay. It's marketed for a sportster. The standoff is a piece of stainless spacer stock from work that I drilled and tapped. I just used a longer bolt for the tank. The forks just clear at full turn.

From the front.

I was just the opposite when I put on 10" Street Bob mini apes. I bent the brake line and re-routed the clutch cable but there was no way my idle and throttle cables were going to reach so I replaced those.

Mine is a 2005. I've read newer dynas have same issue you have. Because of the the different frame, 6 speed tranny you have cables and part numbers are different. 2005 Dyna will take the 2004 fxwg cables after a long search on how to make it work.
