This is one of the most fundamental truths in all of motorcycling.
It's not a matter of opinion; it's physics--it's fact.

Just picked up an FXDF myself, been riding an FXDXT with aluminum spoked rims and Lyndal composite brakes...HUGE difference...FAAT Bob is right...the front wheel weighs 45lbs! I'd guess a person could loose 25lbs and a lot of money by going with aluminum/spokes/composite rotors again. See what the winter brings. As for handling, one of my brothers rides an FXD of the same year as my FXDXT (01) and the handling on the FXDXT is much quicker and "lighter" feeling. Both have the same frames, remember, and same rake...lighter is always better, especially unsprung

Are spoke wheels light than mags, on average? I would like to get rid of my spokes and go with a lighter (but affordable) mag option.

Yeah... those are what got me thinking about it in the first place.

It's funny how quickly you can come to terms with a price when you look at it long enough
I think they are only available in 16 x 3.5" though. I'm fairly sure I don't want a wheel that narrow in the rear, I was thinking I would like to stay with the stock sizes but I am open to suggestions.

Yup, already saw that page before I emailed them. There is nothing listed there for 16" but they do have a 3.5" wide wheel.

I suppose I could go up to 18's though, that would give me an extra half in of width on both... and you might actually be able to see the wheels behind the brakes then (not sure if that is good or not )

18" wheels, and the narrower tires I would need, would be even lighter right? and I assume the increased suspension performance would make up for the rougher ride of the stiffer tires? I'll have to think about it, that would be an entirely different look, but I would probably have more/ better tire choices then wouldn't I?
Anybody have anything to add, let's discuss this
