It this happens, and the cage that has cut in front of you immediately stops, you may hit it in the rear.

Gotta agree there, not EVERY case is the same old cut and dry crap that it's made out to be.

If someone cuts in front of you that is an illegal lane change. If they slam on their brakes then it is reckless driving. If there is an accident then it can be considered a criminal matter.
Yes there are circumstances that you will be following someone too close where you have no control, however that was not the case here, and in all honesty is very seldom the case for rear end collisions.
However I have changed my original statement to reflect this.
What irritates us it the poster blames someone else for his action of following to close, especially if he has an inexperienced rider following him.
You need to take responsibility for your action.
Same thing for merging, whenever you see road construction, when you’re on a bike you need to anticipate someone cutting you off, slow down and give yourself enough room so they don’t have to. Chose who you want in front of you and who you want in back of you.
Yea you heard me, give them enough room so they don’t have to cut you off.
If that means doubling your following distance, then do it.
I lived is south Fl for over twenty years, Fl Lauderdale/Miami, seen the worst.
Yea you might be in the right, but it is not worth going to the hospital for.
