Default Comfort>Function>Fashion?

Which of those do you sacrifice with your individual setups?

This is all prompted by a slow speed fall I had in the rain last night. Im ok, forward controls on my right side are bent and the tank is a little scratched up. Risers twisted in the trees but bars not bent.

This is a pre crash pic.

Before the crash I was debating over 16" apes or some 12" Zbars. Now I'm thinking of leaving these on or going back to my 10" Z's I had before. I also think I'm going to switch to mid-controls.

I've been riding for a long time, but im new to Harleys. I can handle the bike fine, but I feel like I have way less time to react than with my previous motorcycles, especially in the rain (i'll never get these commander 2 tires again).

I like the way the ape's look and fwd controls feel nice, but i know i will have more control over my bike with mids and a lower bar. I ride my bike all year, rain or shine, and for long trips. I want a happy medium of Function, Comfort, and Looks.

Which of those do you sacrifice with your individual setups?

I'm 6'3" but I typically feel unstable when I ride a bike with forward controls. I can't use my legs to push the bike one way or another, or stand up to cushion large bumps.

I dont like the look of heavily padded seats, so I sacrifice comfort for looks, but on long rides I will put my 2 up stock seat back on. I also went down at low speed a couple weeks back just found out the damage assessment today. $10,000 parts and labor. Insurance will be picking up the tab. Never dreamed the damage was that bad or that expensive. Was only going 45 KM.

Comfort is the least of all mods for me. 1st was handling. 2nd was seating, controls and positioning. 3rd was how she looked to me. Still not happy with the shocks but will have to get in touch with Howard again and finish the deal. Last is comfort and to me it's all good but then I'm not driving 500 miles in a clip.

i dig your scoot man... an to be honest i do not feel that i sacrifice any of the three on my scoot... i am very comfortable on it... it changes to a full touring set up in under 5 min if i need to go distance... looks good IMO, and functions like a monster...
