Default Still Trying To Decide On An Exhaust

Before I spend 500 to 800 dollars on an exhaust I want to get it right the first time. Not concerned with looks so a 2n1 is for me. I have heard the V&H Pro Pipe and that's the sound I'm looking for. What does the Thunderheader sound like compared to the Pro Pipe and does it make more power?

I can't help you on the differences in sound between the 2 exhausts, but I'm sure you'll get some answers here. Just adding the exhaust won't give you any noticeable power, get an intake and tuner and it will make a huge difference.

I can't help you with the pro-pipe but the thunder header sounds great like no other imo

D&D Fat Cat, V&H Propipe & SuperTrapp Supermeg. I've owned em all.

D&D FC biggest waste of money I've spent on any of my bikes. Nice quality pipe. Good mid/upper rpm performance. Very loud, Decel cackle(yes it's a pipe thing not a tune thing), tinny fart can sound. Made best peak numbers on dyno but give up too much in the powerbands that 95% of where people ride. (Guys that race dyno sheets and short chubby complex guys love this pipe)

The ProPipe has the best deep sound and delivers the power the best. Sooo much smoother than the FC. A lot more hp/tq than the FC to 3K rpm, loses some in the middle and makes most of it back at the top. Not quiet but not as loud as an FC or TH. As much as I like the V&H PP, I cannot recommend for SuperGlides/WideGlides with stock length shocks. The muffler hangs pretty low and scrapes easily. To bad because I really love the hp/tq it makes up to 3K. Plus it sounds awesome.

Currently running a Supertrapp with 20 disk and closed end cap. It's the quietest of the three but sounds almost as good as the Propipe and **** ton better than the crapcat , performs pretty well and does not scrape in right hand turns. Sound & performance levels can be tuned/changed by adding/subtracting disk and/or an open end cap. This is a much lighter pipe than the D&D and V&H. Chrome quality in not on the same level as the the other two pipes but I think this has more to do with the heat shields being thinner. My new pipe of choice.

Never owned a THeader and doubt I ever will. Good performing pipe. Loud! Quality is probably the lowest i've seen. Customer support is pretty much non existent (from what I've heard). Sound is a bit different. Better than the FatCat but still has the same tinny tone.

*edit*
Rfc..I see you have a Fat Bob. You'd fine with Propipe. It's a great pipe.

I agree, go with the supertrapp, the sound is awsome, and if you want it louder - quiter, just change the disks. Great noticable gain of torque in mid rpm's. Will always go with supertrapp on my next bikes.

Thunderheader has an awesome, deep sound. I had it on my previous bike for 33k miles and loved it. I prefer it to the pro-pipe in terms of tone, but don't have numbers to back up any performance comparrison. I like V&H pipes, but I'd do the TH again in a heartbeat for a 2-1. If you are past caring about looks or sound, I agree the supertap is the most tunable pipe available.

I have the Supertrapp Supermag 2:1 with the billet open end cap and love it. I like the looks , sound and performance. My brother has the Fat Cat on his Road King and after hearing my exhaust for the first time is now thinking about changing his exhaust. I will use Supertrapp from now on.

i just went with a bassani road rage 2. it isnt as popular in my area compared to the thunder header and i wanted something a little different. i wish thunder header would make a shorter type pipe. i hate how it is so long, but is good if you run saddlebags. if thunder header would shorten it up by 6-8 inches i would be getting one. the bassani has a good sound and nice power gains compared to my old short shots, but any 2 into 1 would have gains over short shots
