I put these Polly Heaters in my Heritage . . . $39 . . . they put out more heat than you can handle . . . no pun intended. I don't think I've ever had them on "High" because even on "Low" they put out more at 40*F and 65+ MPH than I can use. www.pollyheaters.com/ph400.htm
Heated grip is for fall, nothing comes close to heated gloves and gear in the winter.
I have both, heated grip is almost useless in winter, lukewarm I call.
i have a set on my sport touring not my HD, so can not speak about that... but i highly suggest you use a relay and wire them into your ignition to turn on and off... this will prevent you from having dead batteries... if you need any help let me know i wired up mine after push starting the bike 3 or 4 times because i forgot to turn them off!
Never used heated grips, mainly because I read more cons than pros about them. So I went with heated gloves and its night and day when riding in the cold, not more froozen finger tips.
Anymore I wouldn't be w/o heated grips. The factory ones have worked well for me, I have them on both the EG and Dyna. But some have posted here with failures, even multiple failures. It'd be interesting to know if HD has done any improvements to remedy this.
I have a couple friends that have installed Koso heated grips on various bikes. They seem like high quality and come with a little LED controller with 5 heat settings. I think the Koso AM107 fits Harleys.

I am planing on doing heated inside bar heaters this winter and these look good. Looks like a better set up than Heat Demons.
