Got a set of highway pegs and bracket for xmas. This week the snow is all gone so I finely got to give them a try. Anyone else noticed that when your feet are out front how much you take it in the butt. I never realized with the mid controls how much your knees absorbed the bumps. Now every bump lifts you off the seat. Something to think about if you want to switch from mid to forward controls.
HD has two different sets of frame mounted highway pegs for Dyna; black ones and chrome ones. Whatâs the difference between those two? The chrome is cheaper believe or not ;-)
Me Too....i had foreward controls on my previous harley. when i bought my new dyna i had planned to put foreward controls on it also but after riding about 3000 miles i have decided against it. like you i put highway pegs on and use them occasionally but i have found that now that i have gotten used to the mids i actually can ride longer and dont feel the bumps as much. i also think i have better control with the mids...glad i saved the $300 and the time to put forewards on. i only have a 30 inch inseam so my legs are fine on the mids....i'm glad you posted as i thought i was the only one to prefer mids. everyone here seems to think the forewards are the way to go but i used them for about 9000 miles last year and am happy with mids. also, with foreward controls i didnt have any place else to put my feet, now i can stretch out if i need to but find that i ride mostly on the mids...good luck...
Some of us don't have any choice when it comes to forwards; 6'3"/35" inseam. I should sit on a stock bike w/ mids - I'd have a place to rest my elbows...
Hounds2,
Same thing for me. after riding my street bob for a few hundred miles, I decided to just put highway pegs on it like a lowrider. Now I hardly ever use the highway pegs.
Blaster, comfort with the highways depends on your seat. I had highway and mid pegs on my bike. As I am 6"1" I found that whilst my legs were more comfortable on the highway pegs the time lag in heavy traffic of getting to the rear brake was bugging me. I ended up going with forward controls and a Mustang seat - works for me. Mids are better in the twisties though.
