You'll need: a toilet paper roll, a paper clip, and a stick of dynamite.
Seriously though, I removed mine a few months ago. Simple stuff. You'll find several threads on this site about this, and they all say the same general things:
Heat gun, WD40, floss/fishing line, gasoline. And it worked great. Should only take 2 beers to complete.
The only caution I would offer when removing tank emblems (or any other emblems that are attached with adhesive foam tape) is to be patient and resist the temptation to pull the emblem off using any leverage once you have a corner or edge loose.
Work the fishing line all the way the way under the emblem so that it just about falls away from the painted surface.
If you try to pull it off by lifting just one edge, the opposite edge(s) will be pressed into and mar the clear coat by leaving edge marks that may or may not buff-out.
