Default Any tall guys feel like the Street Bob is a bit small for them?

Hello,

I'm not a fan of the handling of the fat rear tire bikes. I'm in the process of selling my suzuki m109.

I test rode a street bob this weekend, and was impressed with the bike. I'm 6'2" and think I may look like giant on the bike. For the 6+ footers do you (or did you) ever feel like the street bob is/was a bit small for them?

Any bike I purchase, I'd prefer a low mileage 2008+. The street bob is the only HD that's within my price range. I'm also considering a used victory vegas, and Yamaha raider (not sure of the handling of the 210mm rear tire).

THANKS!!

I am 6'2" and I dont fit on any Harleys.
I am too big for a bob so I bought a touring bike.
I can ride a soft tail too though if I modify it.

Even the road King I need to extend the floor boards 3", change seat to go up and back an inch and change bars so I can sit without leaning forward.

Plus I have a really bad back, I am disabled, and have a ton of problems with my back and chronic pain so the Road King was about the only bike I could fit on and not look ridiculous and still have a really comfortable ride that I can modify to fit me.

I am sure if you look at the soft tails like a heritage or a deluxe or a fat boy, etc.. you can find a bike you will fit on though if you dont like touring bikes and dont want bags, even though you can add bags to the soft tails that dont have them if you want.

Anyway if you look at the dealer and try the various models to see what you "kinda" fit on, and think about what a difference a few changes would make then you know what model you like, you can test drive a few at the dealer, anyway then if you find the model you want is out of your budget for a new bike, look for a good used one.

Thing is you want to be comfortable or you wont ride it and why bother wasting the money.

You can modify most any bike though so if you like the street or fat bobs you can look at what mods you can do on them with bars seat and pegs or controls and see if you can get on one and not feel too big, I know that feeling it sucks.

Good luck

Forward Controls are a MUST! I put off getting them for several months... bad mistake, and I'm not quite 6 ft. (32" inseam)

If you want to see how you might fit on a stock bike, check out this ergonomics program..... http://cycle-ergo.com/
You can compare the Street Bob to your Suzuki, to get the angle of knees, etc.

I disagree. I've got a 32" inseam,6'1". I've been riding my street bob with mids and is a must as far as handling is concerned. The highway pegs when adjusted as far away as possible still gave my knees a slight bend which wasn't comfortable over long distances. I solved the issue by buying a mustang seat. It pushed me a couple inches further back which now means I can stretch right out.
I had forwards when I bought the bike. The gear shift is in the way so stretching out your left leg won't happen. Highway pegs allow a full stretch.
Op,find a seat that puts you a bit further back and your in business. I strongly suggest leaving the mid controls, simply because the gear lever is in the way and honestly a hard lean with your legs forward feels funny. Mids keep you centered and balanced.

More about your inseam than your height. I too an 6'1", 32" inseam and my previous Street Bob fit me just fine. It is not a small scooter. I prefer mids because I like to *stand up a little* when I encounter a road obstacle like a speed bump, 2 by 4, etc.

6'5'' here with a '13 Street Bob and I don't think I look like a gaint on it. And that is with a 34" inseam.
I rode it with mids for about a week and it felt fine. I just installed forward controls and it fits even better. I might consider extended forwards later though.

I was told there is no stock Harley that would fit me, but I could make just about anyone fit with some add ons.

I still plan on getting a LePera Bare Bones seat to sit me back an inch.

Think you being 3" shorter you should be fine on the Street Bob.

Im 6'4 with 34 inch inseam and I ride a wide glide with 3 inch extended forward controls. I would look at a wide glide if I were you it will fit you alot better then a street bob.

same here
And the wide glide is a good option for a tall guy.

ps also 34" inseam i have to have my controls forward no way i could do mids.

I worked at a dealership and rode all the bikes so I know whenever I got on a bike with mids it was very cramped right out of the gate, for me the further out the better, you do lose a little control but I got used to it, I can handle my bike very well at any speeds with grace.

I'm about 6'0" maybe closer to 6'1" . 180 lbs...32 inseam. I love my Super Glide but still considering adding the FLD footboard kit just for some move around room. It all comes down to the individual and what you are comfortable with. Don't let vanity about how you think you look play a role in picking a bike.
