Hi, buying a 06 street bob this week. Can you tell me if there are any major differences between the 06 and 07. The price difference for me is about 3500.00. Is it worth it to buy the 07?
The biggest difference between the 2, as far as I can tell, is the motor: 96" for the '07, and 88" for the '06. I'm sure there are other things different between the two model year bikes, but I can't recall what they are just now. If you don't care about the difference in the motors, then get the '06. $3500 is quite a savings!
differences; Engine in 06 is 88 cui, 07 is 96 cui. 06 is a 5 speed trans, 07 is a 6 speed trans. If you were to upgrade the 06 to 95 cui and 6 speed gear set. you would spend the 3500 difference. the 07 has a little more torq and if you hiway cruise, you will like the additional gear. I would go the 06 provided it would be discounted 5,000 or better.

The '06 Bobs came with a six speed tranny...or atleast mine did
nope, there both 6 speed. If you care about performance at all then you'll be dissapointed with the 06.If the 07 is one mile an hour faster or has 1 more horsepower you'll be forever wondering if you would have been happier with the 07.Also resale value for the 06s fell through the floor when the 07s came out.If you really don't care about any of that then by all means save yourself a few grand and get the 06.
As a previous poster has stated, the greatest difference is the 96ci engine.
There are also many "incremental" model year improvements to the 2007.
A great many of the "incremental" improvements were included in 2006's built late in the model year.
Of these small changes, some were cosmetic, others were parts that were improved due to feedback from the 2006's.
I have a 2006 Street Bob built in May 2006 and I have discovered several 2007 parts in it. (but not a 96" motor unfortunately)
I have a 8 MB pdf document from H-D that details all of the 2007 model year changes.
I don't remember which site that I got it from, but I will e-mail it to you if your email provider permits receiving such large files.
I drove both the '06 and the '07 Bobs when I bought mine last July.
IMO there wasn't $500 difference between them then and certainly not $3500 now.
Take the money and run! Assuming that 2006 model is brand new, its a terrific deal.
Sticker on my Bob read $13,780 when I bought my 06 lastApril. 2 weeks ago my dealer had my same bike and color in 07 form for only $140 more on the sticker.
I don't know if your $3,500 difference is because they are selling the 06 so cheap or because they are selling the 07 too high. $3,500 sounds like a lot, but if that means you are getting the 06 for $11,000 to $12,000 then by all means get the 06. You could almost double the power in that thing for $3,500 in engine work. If your dealer is trying to sell you an 07 for $17,000 then I would walk, no run! to another dealer.
