I'd start with the intake seals get the bike running and spray some carb cleaner on the seals and listen for change in engine speed if there bad before you tear it apart.also check the carb float you may be dumping excessive gas and its burning off in the pipe.While its running look in the carb and see if gas is spitting out of the main jet.
