Ive got a 2003 FXD the parts book says 2006 and later.
Anyone know why I CANT put them on my 2003???

What is different? If its something small I can fabricate something to make it work.
Thanks

You can change the angle on the mini footpegs so they are adjustable and do change your foot position to whats most comfortable for you. They are a huge improvement over the stock pegs and very close to regular floorboards, just mini in size and price.

I helped a friend install forwards on his '12 Street Bob. We DID NOT remove the inner primary or any covers. I jacked up the bike and used a saws all with a short blade with tape on the top cut the rod between the inner primary and engine cases. Took about three minutes. Push the shift rod inward towards the motor and there is room to cut between the case/inner. Then just pull the shift rod out. The rod passes through the inside of the primary case through a molded tunnel, so to speak. No primary oil passes through this tunnel. The kit I installed had a cheap little aluminum cover for the hole. There is no engine pressure to seal.

I found out about this from the video below. In the video, the primary cover is removed. There is no need to do this. The guy also uses a manual hack saw. A battery powered saws all is much faster and more accurate.

BUT
, I've never done either personally. I'm just saying dig a little deeper and you may find the answer you're looking for.

Your mini boards are mounted in a totally different position than actual footboards. I agree they may be better than regular pegs but are no where near the same as footboards. Go to your dealer and look at a Switchback and you will see what I mean.

I owned a Road King before I got my Wide Glide so am familiar with what floorboards feel like. All I'm saying is that the mini floorboards are comfortable and adjustable and are a good alternative to the cost and hassle of trying to install full floorboards on a Dyna. For $100 and a 5 minute install I have mini boards that work for me.

In the video there is a washer on the shaft that looks like it would be on the inside of the cover. If you cut the shaft and pulled it out wouldn't the washer be a potential problem?

I'm still waiting for my kit from Harley, but I'm going to try using the one piece heel toe shifter off of a fxdp. I found one on eBay for $25.00. New from the dealer, it would cost over $260.00. I sure hope that it works!
