If I install floor boards on a 2012 Dyna Super Glide will I have to remove the primary side for access? I saw a kit on EBay and it had a primary gasket included. (I hope I don't)
The answer is YES... if you have mid control foot pegs.
Have you considered 2012 Switch Back floor boards? I installed them on my 08 FXDF and am very happy with them.
HD has them as a kit in their accessory catalog.
Search for the thread on installing forward controls. If you don't have to open the primary to add forwards I don't think you'd need to open it for floorboards.
BUT, I've never done either personally. I'm just saying dig a little deeper and you may find the answer you're looking for.

Have you considered the HD Mini Floorboards? I put them on my Wide Glide and they feel really good and were a simple 5 minute bolt on install. They are smaller than full floorboards, but do the trick for me. Here's a pic.
