Default SERT?

I am new to Harley and need an education. I read about installing the SERT and am not sure what that is?
All of the talk about new bikes running lean and hot has me a little concerned about my 07 Lowrider. I will ride it stock for this comming season just because of the other things that I have to spend my money on (sissy bar, saddlebags, lights and on and on) but I am concerned with burning it up because it is too lean???

SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner) is a software program that you use with your laptop to change the settings on the bike's ECU (computer). It comes with HD canned maps (settings for fuel, timing, etc) for various models of bikes, engines sizes and installed add-ons of HD products (SE mufflers, AC, etc). The SERT also allows you to modify (personalize/fine tune) the settings.

I have SERT on both of my bikes. I have had great success with it. Others use the PC III instead of the SERT. Everyone will have an opinion as to which one is better, so won't get into that discussion.

Thanks for the info. I assume that I could install the sert and fatten up the mixture a little to be on the safe side even before I install pipes and air cleaner.

I noticed the bag on the back of your bike. Is it sitting on a factory luggage rack?

What brand and model is the bag?

yes, it's sitting on a factory rack. it is just a cheap bag I bought at a leather shop in Branson, MO for a couple bucks. there are some real nice ones out there. Think T-bag make one that fits on the sissy bar and rack, or you can turn it around and have it sit on the seat, giving you a back rest on the long drives.

I have a Medium/low sissy bar and I added the HD aux light kit that sits between the medalian bar and the backrest pad. I like having the extra brake and running light up high like that. I like the bag you have because it sits low enough to not block my sissy bar lights.

the bag I have is a pretty cheap one, I think from China built out of buffalo leather. does the trick, hauling the thermos to work.

I have a 2 piece t-bag that i sometimes just use the top bag strapped to the sissy bar. when i get a chance, i will confirm who made it. also, check out the bags from T-bag, they may have what you are looking for.

got to checking, I have the two piece tour master set for my dyna. I separate the two and use the top part on my sissy bar. think that is what you want.

jimsreddyna,

I have the Screamin Eagle II slipon mufflers with no PCIII or SERT and I've had my bike for a year and a half and 18,000 with no problems so don't worry about it getting too lean.
