Just installed new black mini apes and levers on my '05 FXD. Thinking next will be 2" tank lift, stage 1 air cleaner (hate the stock football monstrosity), and coil relocation. I attached a pic of how it looked the first day I got her and a couple of how she sits now. I like the direction its going, but I would like to know what everyone else has to say.

looks 100% better than start with the throw back apes. man what was going on there? I think if you ran some more black on that thing with the blue it would looks sweet. keep up the mods. Get rid of the chrome rims throw some black laced or contrast cut.
I would cut the football and start powder coating. Looking good so far.
Yeah I think I'm going to go with the Dk kit for air cleaner with the flat black cover. As far as the powder coat goes that is definetely going to happen. All chrome must go including the wheels. The only thing that sucks is that I live in AZ so this is PRIME riding season, so I think most of the powder coat is going to wait until its 115 degrees out and I can live with the bike being out of service for a week or 2.

Bike looks good man I like the apes , Leave a little chrome IMO .
I have a dk ac if you are interested pm me
looks good man i have been slowly morphing my FXD int owhat i want it to be. started wit ha set of 14" burly narrows in black, then stage 1 with a custom made cover, just got my wheels and levers back from powder coating. right now i am working on graftng a fatboy rear fender to it after i french in the plate and tail light assembly. then its gettign an FXDWG tank and console set up with the speedo swapped fro mthe riser to the tank and changed out to a dakota digital. still i nthe process of figuring out how to make the new flush black LED fuel guage and cap set work with it, then a ton more powder and a set of hardbags. pending on what kinda time is left before riding season starts i'll dig into the engine with new geardrive cams and big bore kit
