MoCo plant Shut Down,,,
There are some valid points on both sides. But I have a simple point about this thread. What the heck is this thread doing in the dyna section? Wouldn't it fit much nicer in the general harley chat forum?
End of posting on this thread for me.
Unions are totally useless.......organized welfare for those who don't wish to be responsible for their own efforts....[:'(]
Well said!
It was great to see how Northwest Airlines destroyed the mechanics union a few years ago. The mechanics had their asses handed to them. Now, they're ALL out of jobs. Justice is served. Every time a union plays hardball, they deserve to be crushed.

Unions made the middle class. If I didn't want a pension, health insurance, or good working conditions in general I would go rat. I'm not ready to suck my bosses dick for raises just. IBEW 1141 Oklahoma City.

The only reason i got a harley is because of my job as a union Bricklayer. BAC Local 9 PA GO UNION.

Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International.
My dad and his dad had the 40 year pins.
I dropped out in the mid 1970s when the so called "Right to Work Law" kicked in.
At that time, every brokedick that ever scratched their name in a wet sidewalk with a broken stick,
was "entitled" to the same wage as I, so said the Federal Government.
Previously, the plasterers had an apprenticeship program that was four years under the journeymen
who had learned the mudforking from generations upon generationspast.
Our Brotherhood died. Quickly, not painlessly.
The entire country, in my opinion has followed suit.
We are still the greatest country on the face of the earth,
but, just barely. I do hope things improve.
Today, the plaster trade is scorned, as wannabees destroy people's homes with
uneducated execution.
I branched off and created a niche for myself as an ornamentalist.
In 1967, I bought my first new motorcycle (Triumph, about $1250). Thank you Union.
I was making $2.49 an hour as a plaster tender/hod carrier.
Took home $88 a week.
Local 93 International Laborers.
Minimum wage then was about $1.15, actually I think it was less than that.
I really don't care one way or the other about Unions today,
(corrupt pencil pushers no doubt, the actual performers for the most part hard working honest folks),
but to say that the unions are the reason that anyone loses their job is wrong. Period.
Fair Trade Act is a lie.
Illegal immagrants demand better wages and benefits. Huh??
They are the reason wages are low.
Outsourcing. GREED. And, see Fair Trade Act.
There is no confusion, and it is not complicated whatsoever.
This is the way our government operates. Sad.
