I put V&H Big radius 2 into 2 on the WG a few months back. A trusted friend in the service department at the stealership said if I only changed pipes or only changed AC, I didn't need to get it remapped, but if I changed both it would definitely need it. I totally understand that, but what if I pulled the baffles out? I know there's going to be a loss of back pressure and there will be significant popping on decel and when shifting gears, but will it damage the motor? I ordered an RSD Venturi AC and will install it as soon as it comes in followed by a remapping, but in the meantime will I screw up my bike by riding it without baffles?
If anyone has any input or can point me to a thread that already addresses this question, I would be much obliged.
Been asked and answered a lot of times so you might not get many replies here on this. Anyway...
With late-model Harleys you can put a high-flow A/C and exhaust on the bike and it will be able to maintain stock air-fuel ratios. You won't do any harm to the bike, its designed to run like that. Same for removing the baffles.
You will likely get a bit of popping on over-run. Won't damage the bike.
I'd definitely recommend fitting some Xieds (Google it) though as they will reduce the popping a bit, lower the engine temp, and improve rideability generally.
