This is funny right now I have a Honda & Yamaha I avoid the XYZ & Polaris dealer for the same reasons using the local Indy where I use to take my 95FLSN, good price but more importantly they do the work they say they're going to do.

To be fair to the Dealers they have a lot of overhead that needs to be paid for they can only drop their prices so much, when you are out on a trip and need something done those big neon signs look pretty good, the prices not so bad.

The local dealer here might have charged $75 dollars more to for new tires but they would install new brake pads, around $30.00, as part of tire job.

I bought my bike for $13,111 out the door back in April from one dealer but use local dealer for my service. The difference is the cheap bike dealer makes the money from high volume and high service prices. The local charges more for bike initially but has good prices on service and welcomes warranty work. Pays to shop around.

I have my service manual, tools and the know how. I get my tires, what I want, at the indys. I have found good deals for my parts on the Internet, eBay, amazon and some other places. The last couple of times I let the dealer touch my bike it came back dirty, then they wanted me to pay them more to clean up their mess

The worse part is that they know that this is how H-D owners feel and they don't seem to care. I have never heard anything good about any of the H-D service departments in all the dealers in my area. I live near Denver so there's about ten dealers near by. All my work gets done at an indapendent shop. Even then I have talked to alot of factory trained H-D techs and none of them seem to realy understand how the Delphi system works. I had parts on my bike replaced under warranty that were not needed because the tech didn't understand how to properly test the start stop switch. I told them it was not the problem before they replaced it but they know best.

Well i can tell you this i have a dyna fat bob and victory hammer and to buy any parts and either dealer ships feels like you are taking it in the *** as for my harley dealer those wrenches i wouldnt let work on bicycle. The victory dealer is alittle better for service but not by much.I will always do most of the work on my bikes myself atleast i know its done right and i take alot care with my bikes.I watched the harley wrenches and the were not to careful i can see alot of extra scratch etc that werent on the bike before it was brought in.So if you can do the work yourself you are better off and will save some cash! Also there are alot of good independent wrenches around that do great work and treat your bike like thier own so if you can find somebody like that you can go that route as well

I always try to do my own wrenching on my bike. I dont have the means to switch rubber or balance the wheels. I always get nervous when I let anyone touch my bike.

And on top of that...to get cheated also?
