I have a 2004 FXD with a "Signature Series Seat with Rider Backrest"
as close as i can tell.
I found said seat on H-D website and its listed for 06 and newer Dyna's.
While shopping for a new seat i have found the 2004 and 2005 Super Glides seem to use a different seat than the newer or older Dyna's.
Can anyone shed any light on which seats i can use on this bike?
What is the difference from the earlier and later Dyna's?
I bought the bike used and can't really tell, and really don't know, if any modifcations have been done to allow this seat to be used.
In researching seats for my 2005 FXDWGI, I found out that the 2004-2005 front seat bracket is in a different place than other years. When searching seats, 2004-2005 are always a different part # than other years. Hope that helps.
Yes, you're right. The '04/'05 Dynas were unique, as far as fitting seats is concerned. I have an '04, and have tried three I can tell you about.
The most comfy for long rides was, by far, the OEM seat on my bike, which was the HD police spring seat. It is particularly nice for tall riders. Can ride all day & all night on it without screamin buns. Looks like hell, though.
Second was the HD Sundowner Deep Bucket. This one is particularly comfy for the passenger, and it quite comfy for the driver. But it looks a bit like a blimp squatting on a Dyna. Great for two-up.
The best looking one I've tried is the C&C Solo. What a beautiful, and well-made seat! But man, after an hour or so, I have to get off for 15 min. It just doesn't have enough padding nor width for long rides. For bar-hopping, is fine.
Thanks,
Helps a little, thats what i have found so far also.
I'm just not sure how a newer seat was used on mine and if i can look for different years and do minor mods, that would really open the choices.
I hear ya, fish and +1 for C&C Customs. I've purchased two of theirs and loved them both. I'll probably buy one for the 04 SuperGlide I just picked up. This is a solo only ride and I want a solo only seat.
If you're looking, I might be dealing the seat illustrated in this thread.
