I bought the low profile (12" between the centers of the eye holes.) They dropped the back of the bike 1". If you want stock length just order the stock length air shocks for a touring bike. No mods needed they just bolt on like the stockers. The chrome covers that slip over the top mounting bolt will need a littletrim with a file on the bottomif you want to re-use them. I like the look of the bike without them on. The air lines hook up to the shocks and then to a schrader valve that I will be mounting under the seat. If I'm riding 2 up I just add a couple pounds of air. They change the whole look of the bike and the ride...smoooth.
thanks. I don't imagine there's anything special about the schrader valve or airlines...can get those at any hardware store probably. I guess the reason for running them both to the same valve is to ensure equal pressure in each?
Thanks...great idea. Do you have the HD part no. for the 'genuine' airlines, valve and T?

Here is what is needed as per the dealer. 54536-02A rear air shock valve/hose $34.00, 54320-97 push-in fittings(you will need 2 and for $11.50 you get both.) I tried hardware stores for5/32 fine pipe thread screw in schrader valves. Plan was to go cheap, skip the hose set up and just adjust each shock. If you find anyone who makes these you might save yourself $20 or so but, I've spent about that much in gas looking so I put these parts on order.

Jimbo,
Those shocks look awesome. I'm thinking about somthing similar for mine. Is the ride quality really that much better?

I would have to say yes it is much better and I don't have the air lines yet to adjust them. I wasn't trying to improve the ride when I put them on. I liked the look of them first. I also wanted to lower the rear of the bike so I can bob my rear fender without having to relocate the shock like some kits do. The smooth ride was a bonus. Again if you don't want to lower your bike the stock length touring air shocks are the same length as the stock Dyna.

Do you have a p/n?
I am rehabbing a 86 flht for my neighbor and he is short. He can't flat foot his bike and was going to use lowering brackets but his shocks are shot so this may be the way to go.

Part number for the shocks I used is 54631-02B. These are the low profile shocks.

Thanks jimbo, what was your cost? I know you got 20/20, but want to pass it on to my bro so he can check the budget.

Harley lists the shocks for $275. I got mine for $220 with the 20 0/0 discount. Price for the air hoses are listed above.
