I had my 08 Fxdl out for a ride today and about 5 mins into the ride it shuts completley off. I pulled over and and tried to start it up, fuel pump didnt kick on nor did the engine roll over. so I took off the battery cover and everything looked fine so I looked at the fuse link. the 7.5 amp fuse was broke off at one one prong, also noticed the ingnition fuse was blown. I just had 16 inch ape hangars with 3 inch risers installed. So I threw in a 10 amp and a 20 get me homeI have a question what is the 7.5 fuse for and what could be causing that. Im guessing a short in the bars. All and any help what be appreciated. Thanks

Reason: forgot words
look on the fuse cover and it will tell you what it is for. and sounds like bare wires are the problem. elec. short in the harness I would guess. look at all wires near work was done.

According to the 2008 Dyna Service Manual all fuses (except for the main 40 amp maxi fuse) are 15 amp.....
Hello from Redcar England.
I am not an expert with the wires side of things but it sounds like you have it covered going to the last thing that has been touched. Please give feed back when you have got it sorted because if its happened to you it could happen to others. I ride a dyna so if its a dyna fault pass it on so we no.
Good luck and all the best for the new year.

If you were able to put a bigger fuse in and it held, I doubt it is a short, unless you burned off the wire that was causing the short, or it is on a switched wire that you have not switched since replacing fuse..
You said the fuse was broke off? How did that happen, that may have caused the problem..

As FXD2003Rider says, all except the maxi are 15 amp. The 7.5 you found is an inline fuse you found in the battery compartment, and thats for the battery tender pigtail. Not the issue youre having now.
The blown ign fuse is the result of a problem you have. Either the wires got scarred when fishing them through the bars, or one got pinched somewhere
