I ordered another one to replace the one that snapped. I needed to move my license plate because on the 2013, I couldn't install the quick release sissy bar without moving the license plate - but I didn't want to buy the HD license plate relocation kit.

I think the Road 6 is a good mount, I really liked how it looked - I just need to figure out how to make it not get so much vibration. I may try and find some rubber spacers or something in addition to the bolt I use, maybe that will prevent it snapping. I also could have potentially torqued it down too hard and put too much stress on it.

 

I was goning to mount it on my lower shock bolt on the inside with a washer so it doesnt get moved around at all by the shock moving. I guess i will just wait and see when it gets here. I also use the quick disconnect backrest for my girl so i needed something in this style anyways.....

 

I had the same issue with my shock mounted license frame, lost it somewhere in Montana on a road trip, snapped off right next to the lower shock mounting bolt. Switched to an axle mount and have had no issues.

 

What brand was yours?

 

I had the same one you ordered (horizontal mount) and as others have posted, mine broke completely off. Didnt find out until I was already home and the license plate was gone. Had to call DMV and let them know about the missing plate and order a new tag. I wrote Road 6 customs about the broken plate, but never heard anything back.

 

Yep supposed to be. Getting caught is kind of like you and a buddy running from a bear. Just make sure you can run faster, or know your buddies weakness "screws in ankle or something like that"

"Alteration, Disguise, or Concealment of Numbers. – Any operator of a motor vehicle who shall willfully mutilate, bend, twist, cover or cause to be covered or partially covered by any bumper, light, spare tire, tire rack, strap, or other device, or who shall paint, enamel, emboss, stamp, print, perforate, or alter or add to or cut off any part or portion of a registration plate or the figures or letters thereon, or who shall place or deposit or cause to be placed or deposited any oil, grease, or other substance upon such registration plates for the purpose of making dust adhere thereto, or who shall deface, disfigure, change, or attempt to change any letter or figure thereon, or who shall display a number plate in other than a horizontal upright position, shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. Any operator of a motor vehicle who shall willfully cover or cause to be covered any part or portion of a registration plate or the figures or letters thereon by any device designed or intended to prevent or interfere with the taking of a clear photograph of a registration plate by a traffic control or toll collection system using cameras commits an infraction and shall be penalized under G.S. 14‑3.1.
