I do not want to wrap my pipes at all because it can reduce the life (and looks) of the bike. So now I may go back to the big radius 2/1 that I originally wanted. That is, of course someone can vouch that the new comp series don't get too hot, discolored, or need the wrap.
I had to laugh about the guys' pants catching fire, so funny! I do hope he did not get burned. Anyway, I cannot imagine not having heat shields on at least on the header pipes, the temperature in that area is smoking hot as the guy with his pants on fire can testify! Can't go wrong with the V&H 2 into 1 Big Radius - was high on my list too. I listened to them at my HD dealership and they sounded great. Good luck!

Which makes me wonder why v&h would not have them on both headers...

Alan,
What made you decide on the Bassani over the v&h?

The main reason I chose Bassani was that I was seeing the V&H 2 into 1 everywhere. They were at my HD dealership, and then I was at Portland Oregan and went to a HD dealer and they were all over the place, so wanting to be a little different I chose the Bassani. Now saying that, one reason the V&H are everywhere is probably because they are great pipes, I know they have a great rep for finish and fitment.

I love the looks of my pipes but I did have a fiment issue with the muffler and transmission brackets - had to make my own spacers. So there are pluses and minuses to just about everything.

Yea, I can see wanting to be different. Where I have my bike now, there are two other Harley's within a 50 mile radius, and I went to school with both of those boys. So no matter what pipes I put on, I will stand out. Thanks for the advice though, man. This is just such an important time in a man's life, I would hate to choose the wrong pipes.

Here is a pic of my 12 Fat Bob with the V&H 2 into 2 Big Radius, these come with heat shields, I didn't need to buy anything extra to run these pipes, it came with everything from the crushed gasket, to the new bracket to connet it to the trany.
No I have not had any problems with the MP's, DA Cops, or the local Cops yet, I have been running them since May..... Were are you going to be stationed at in the states

Beautiful bike. Those pipes are the best looking out of all the ones I've seen in my opinion. I just like the 2 into 1 series. I just got an email from my Gunny from a few years ago and he gave me some really good advice on the pipes. As far as a duty station, I have no idea yet. I have to go to Huachuca for a few months but thats only tdy enroute. I want some place warm though so I can ride longer. Here in Germany, it's cold for about 9 months out of the year, and the other 3 months is just rain.
