Hey all, I flipped the rear shocks on my '04 FXDXI to accommodate the installation of FXDP saddlebags. Has anyone else done this and is there anything I should be concerned with by flipping the rear shocks?
The shocks dont appear to be binding up on anything but the clearances between the struts and the shocks are greatly reduced. I have taken a few pictures but difficult to make out.
On my '03 FXDP with FXDX shocks I was able to mount the bags without flipping the shocks. I flipped the top stud and used the stud cover as a spacer for the bag mount. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Just some interesting info on shocks and running them upside down.
I had the stock coil over shocks that sucked big time.
I run the Works nitrogen streettrackers that are made to run inverted.
It's your ride. I bit the bullet and have never looked back.
That was one thing I was unsure of basically oil in the shock. By inverting it will the seals not receive adequate lubrication? DanDman said he installed FXDX shocks on on his FXDP without having to invert them so I might be able to set them up original.
This is what came up with. I reversed the shock studs and used the sleeve as a spacer. I don't know if these are stock FXDP shock studs. Since I bought the bike used with out bags and different shocks. The part # for the FXDP stud is 54557-90A if yopu need them.
DanDman, those studs looks the same as what I have. Do the bags stick out pretty far with the set up? I was originally thinking out just rotating the upper shock mount but that would give a slight angle between the alignment of the upper and lower mount.
