V & h
Sorry guys for reposting a ? that has probably already been posted!!! Im having trouble fully understanding what I need to do and how it effects my bike... As we all know the stock pipes on my new switchback doesn't have the classic harley sound we love that comes from a harley bike.. I've read alot of threads and maybe you can tell me if my understanding is correct before I drop a bunch of cash at the dealership, trying to " keep it simple"... Im only looking to get the sound from my pipes while keeping the bike running smooth.. Changing to the V & H pipes I also need the stage 1 to keep the bike running smooth for tuning purposes.. By attatching the V & H slipons I am not necessarily going to achieve the sound I am looking for because of stock exaust system.. am I correct? I am not trying to blow anyones ears out just trying to get enough noise that people know that its a harley when they hear it running.. thx
A pair of slip ons will range from $150 - $400 give or take. Save the cost of labor by installing them yourself. Rush, V&H, Cycle Shack and many other good brands are available. Just do some research for your bike.
OK before you even think anything ever again as far as warranty please familiarize yourself with the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. It clearly details your rights as a consumer. I kept a copy of it with me when I used to have warranty on my bike because the Service managers tried telling me all kinds of **** voided my warranty that didn't.

Thx Green, I have seen one of these vids... with everything I have read I was under the impression that if I want the bike to run smooth I need to get it tuned after changing pipes because of the difference in back pressure... am I not understanding correctly??
Changing pipes, air cleaner and computer reflash is known as the Stage 1.
You can do the stage one pretty cheap yourself if you shop around. There is a section here on the forum where people sell parts. I would bet that someone here or on the auction site is selling a slip on, high flow air cleaner and Fuelpak for cheap. I would bet you could do it all for $500 or less and would be well worth it. It will run smoother, cooler and sound the way you want it, aside from the added horsepower and torque.
Where in Missouri are you?
