Make sure you want slip ons before you go that way, a lot of people buy them and then decide to get the full exhaust later. A fuel tuner would help a lot even if you stop at the exhaust because stock HD fuel maps are pretty lean. Dont be reluctant to get one because your bike will run better and I will bet that you eventually get a Stage 1 ac - you can get some pretty nice ones for less than $150, the $$ goes up for the fancy covers.

I can't speak for the V&H slip-on but if you are looking for a more "Harley like sound" stay away from the Bassani Slip-on. It added pretty decent performance but in my opinion sounded terrible and the pipe started turning yellow on me. I went and had the bike tuned, cleaned up the yellowing the best I could and it still kept turning yellow.
I also eventually had the CAT cut out of my headpipe - it made it sound a little better but it still didn't sound good in my opinion. I ended up putting the full V&H 2-1 system on bike and love it.

Thankyou greenstreetbob and thank you chickrider... I got the V & H slipon installed and have rode over 100 miles since and it was just the sound I was looking for... and very simple to install...
