So today i tryed to go for a ride ..bike cranked 2 times than just started fast clicking .. would not turn over.
When I was at harley about 2 months ago I asked them to put a test on it and they said it was Fine no need to replace it yet.. ( I assumed its almost time for a new one its 5 years old )
A friend said I can jump start from my car ???? Is that OK ??
i live by the golden rule of NO as i have seen several fried ECM's from jumping off a car... some guys will do it with the car off and that is "ok"... personally i have replaced the ECM's in peoples bikes that they fried from jumping off a car, i will not do it... i put in 2nd gear and bump start it... if not, toss on a battery charger
It's risky doing it off a car. The battery and ground circuit can't sink the voltage spike if it comes through.
I have done it, but rarely. Too afraid of frying the charging circuit.
It's time for a new battery. I guess you already Know that.
Cheers
What pisses me off about that is ... I was at Harley 2 months ago ..I said hey the bike is an 07 lets change the bat while you have it . They said they put the tester on it and it was FINE no need to spend the $$ on a new one yet
Fwiw, I just changed my battery out. Kept it on a battery tender. My volts were reading good. 13.whatever. Didn't start bike. Keep your meter on the battery when trying to start. My old one dropped to 6 volts. No good! New battery.
