Default Cleaning air filters, SE

I have just installed a Scream'n Eagle air cleaner. How do you go about washing and refurbishing/reactivating when it's dirty? Thanks in advance for responses.

You can't. The new, white ones that the MoCo are now using are paper and must be replaced. If you have a older one that had the K&N filter then you can wash and reuse it.

Use the Arlen Ness Big Sucker filter. Works great, way better than the MoCo's paper crap.

The Arlen Ness big sucker is a K&N, and when I was at the HD shop yesterday, we took some measurements and found that the K&N filter for the big sucker is exactly the same in demisions, mounting holes, etc, as the SE filter. Thus, if you have a SE that needs a new filter, you can get the Ness for about 48.00.

Regards,

Bill

My SE filter kit #29440-99c came with cleaning instructions. Says to dip 3/4 of filter thickness in cleaner ( HD cleaner of course ), rinse with water from inside out and let air dry. Do not use any oil as it is a dry filter. I'm going to get the Ness filter before I have to clean mine.

This link will give you the directions for cleaning if it is the K&N and not the blue banded one http://www.knfilters.com/clningins.htm

Also take a look here for the oiling kits https://www.hdforums.com/m_67662/tm.htm

I bought the same kit number and it has a blue banded air cleaner. The instructions say to clean it when it's dirty, as Hog_Fever stated above, but do not add oil. Are the instructions wrong about being cleanable? I'm told this is the latest kit for the TC (works with carbed or injected bikes), have they changed the filter type again?
