Gotta service manual? That'd be the first place I'd start. I've never done it myself, but it would seem as simple as a direct swap, but the pita parts would be the wiring.

If you are going 14" or less, your stock wiring is long enough. You will just have to run them through the bars. I did it with cord. Your next pain will be running your cables and attaching your new throttle cable.

Not hard...just time consuming.
