Default rear tires on new Dynas, tread preference

There's been 1 or 70 threads on what rear tire you can fit on a Bob or other current model Dyna. 180 is as big as you can get over the factory 160 of course. My thoughts recently have been with trying to get the best w i d e tire look as possible. The 180 that the dealer installs is the same tread design that is on the 200 softails and while that looks good, I've been thinking that a different manufacturers tread might make it look even wider. After all those lines in the tread can enhance the look of the tire just like wearing horizontal or vertical stripes to hide our waistlines, right ladies?

Anyway, in searching for the right looking tread for a cool rear look to my Bob I stumbled across an Avon size that's 190/55-17. It would fit the stock rim and that 10mm less than the 200 might make running it possible. Plus, as was my original motivation, I like the tread.

BTW, the 180/55 would have a 99 mm profile and the 190/55 would have a 104 mm profile. I THINK the stock rear tire on a Bob is a 160/70 which equals a 112mm profile, so the 180 Avon would lower your rear end a full inch when calculating the decrease from the top and bottom sidewalls. The 190 would result in a little over 1/2 an inch in height reduction. Right???

You have to take into consideration the rim width and tire width at the bead point. They always say what size the tire is but don't tell you what size rim it fits.
I had a link to the rim specifics but can't find them now.

try2, have you come across any low profile rear tires that offer a matching tire for the front wheel.

I'm not talking about low profile for the front, just matching tread and compound.

Thanx Rat. Very interesting.

Can go up to 110 on the front, slightly lower profile.

Go up to 180/55 or 190/50 on the back.

Need to investigate this further. I've heard some good things about BridgeStone,
but I don't know if I've heard all I should hear.

Any input on the BridgeStones???

I wonder if that Bridgestone tread would be good for "Mud". AAAAAAAAH ahahahahahaha, ahaha hahahh, wheeewwww! Too obnoxious?

Seriously, it looks good. Whatever makes my rear tire look fatter.

One thing to keep in mind thatmikeurig mentioned, due to lower profile tires and the sidewalls being stiffer, just because the section width is the same measurement as what fits aBob, I don't know if it will fit the Bobs wheel. Probably will though.

Good one try2.

Need some research. The sizes look promising, fitment and performance I want to know more.

BridgeStone is a very old and established "name", That don't always mean
much nowadays.

Bridgestones are made here in my town. A large percentage of my town works at that plant. Next door neighbor does actually. I'll see if he can swipe me a few sizes if mocycle tires is one of the models they manufacture.

Incorrect. One inch = 25.4mm. The 1st differene ~ 0.5" and the 2nd ~ 0.2".
